The craziest week on my mission so far

¡Hola a todas!

This week has been one of the craziest weeks of my mission. First off, my son's (greenie companion's) name is Elder Marcom and he is from Kansas! His Spanish is cracked (really good) because he studied like 6 years in school and he can speak really well, but he has kind of a hard time understanding the accent of the people here but in a few months he is gonna be absolutely cracked at Spanish.
Bueno,,,The week,,,Monday - Elder Coutinho and I woke up and took a bus to the bus terminal in Córdoba and we sat there for like 5 hours waiting for other elders aaannnddd someone had to get a phone fixed so it was a long day. We finally get to the area where we were going to be staying for 2 days. We work Monday night and all day Tuesday, and Wednesday we wake up and head over to the church to wait for all the new missionaries. We get there and about 10 minutes later the mission president tells me that my companion will be flying in on Thursday (not Wednesday) so I sat through the meeting and watched everyone else meet their companions. Fun times! Wednesday afternoon I went and saw my Airbnb/Hotel because our actual apartment isn't ready yet. I went with the mission president to get the keys and everything which was awesome! When we returned to the church I called my companion (which was nice), when he was stuck in Buenos Aires because he missed one of his flights due to delays! It was nice to get to know him a little bit before meeting him. After the call, I was told that I will be working in my new area with two other elders that had to wait for their bus that was leaving the bus terminal at midnight so we worked in our new area and later waited in the church building for president and the AP´s to come pick us up. We went to the terminal, said goodbye to the Elders, and I went with the AP´s to their apartment and spent the night there. Thursday morning I stayed with the AP´s in the mission home and after a few hours the AP´s drop me off at Zone Council that was going on in one of the church buildings in Córdoba. I sit through zone council still without a companion. After zone council finishes I leave with Elder Lopez and Elder Cunningham to my first area La Paz!! I spent the afternoon in La Paz which was kind of weird to be honest, but it was fun! Around 7:30 pm the AP´s drive up to the La Paz church building and I finally meet my son (greenie companion). I get in the car, and the AP´s tell me that we are going to eat dinner with president, so we drive over to the restaurant, eat dinner and get back to the Airbnb around 11 pm. Friday was the first day of work!! It was a pretty good day and we talked to a few people but we didn´t have very many points in our map because the area is new and so we couldn´t visit many people. We meet with the bishop Friday afternoon and he gives us a small list of member families that we can visit so we kind of had work to do.
Sunday, we went to church and it went really well!!! We were able to meet lots of members and there are so many people who want to help the missionaries, so its going to be a good transfer! .........aannnddd Saturday, Saturday started out normal, woke up planned our day and left in the morning! Nothin too crazy, we come back to the apartment, do our studies and leave the apartment around 4:45pm. Walking around our area visiting some people and we make our way over to the south part of our area. People told us that it was kind of a dangerous area so we were keeping an eye out for sketchy people. Around 6:30pm I checked the phone for like 5 seconds, put it in my pocket and knock a door. We are waiting and I look behind me and I see two small men right behind us and one of them says "Dáme tu celular" and I'm just like "No". I step backwards and the guy rushes towards me, grabs my shirt, and my pocket, and tries to grab the phone. I tried to protect the phone but in the end he got it and the guys ran for it. I kind of freaked out because, new area, I don't know a lot, and we just got our phone robbed, but thankfully I kind of knew where we were and we visited the Bishops house the day before, so we just made our way over there and waited for someone to get home. We finally found someone and they helped us get everything situated, the hermanas came to the bishops house because they live behind his house and I was able to call president Zanni on the sisters phone and tell him about what happened. All in all we are okay.
But anyway that's all for this crazy week!!
Hope every has a great week!

Mi hijo que yo no conozco! (My son that I don't know)

¡Hola a todos!

I don't have much time to write but I'll just update you guys about transfer news! On Saturday we received our transfer calls and I will be leaving Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, and I will be returning to Córdoba (the main city). I will be opening an area and I will train! I still have no clue who my companion (my son that I don't know) is going to be, but the new missionaries come in on Wednesday this week so I'll let you guys know the following Monday!
I hope everything is going well for everyone back home! Have a great week!

8 months?!?!

¡Hola a todos!

Ok, umm.... today I have completed 8 months of my mission. That's just crazy to me. It seems not long ago that I was in Washington being set apart by my stake president and preparing to start the MTC.
I can't be more grateful for all of the people I've taught
, through Gods power, come unto Christ these past few months, and I can't wait to help even more!
This week went by way to fast because wednesday we had exchanges and I was in Alta Gracia for the day with Elder Taft! Also, we had another zone conference on Friday with Elder Christian the area president for this region. Something that I learned from the conference was from something that Elder Christiansen said. He said: "The lessons that we are teaching to our friends are not only to increase their knowledge of the gospel but to prepare them to receive invitations and make commitments."
When you think about it, it seems pretty simple really but I just never really thought about it like that before.
This week we found a couple who are very interested in listening and they want to learn more so we are exicted to be teaching them!
Anyway, thats all for this week! I hope everyone has a great rest of their day today!
Sister Christiansen, the wife of the area president, shared this in the conference. Isaiah 25:9 "And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation." It was cool to hear because all people who know who Christ is will be praising their God and Jesus Christ when He comes again!
